cut a part out of the bunk

Today I took a half day free from work and I cut a part out of the bunk where the outboard will come in the stowed position. After that I taped the inside and the glued a side panel in, maybe tomorrow the other part. I made also the traveler outer pieces fit. As last job I made the inside bunk panel to fit. I will glue them in tomorrow.

Today is holiday in the Netherlands because it is the Kings his birthday. We did not see a lot of the happenings here in town because we did a lot of boat building. In the morning I cut the panels to fit and in the afternoon we laminated some panels on the vacuum table and the end pieces of the traveler. Finally we glued the underside panels in. On the right hand after side is not laminated because we take a piece out of the bunk there, this is the place where the outboard will come in stowed position like the ex F32SR of Richard.

We only had the afternoon to do things, we started to cut the deck for the entrance, this is smaller than the plan describes but it is big enough for us. We checked this on Thrill Seeker how small we good go and still have a good entrance. After that we started with cutting some cloth for the panels and finally we laminated them and put them under vacuum. I stayed a little longer and scraped the tubes clean what we did yesterday. And finally I put the lines for the forestay and the hammer head on the deck so I can see where to cut and how I have to make the panel, it will be like Rod did on his F32. Only on our for stay we will attach a mounting point for the rotating gennaker pole.

Yesterday we put the main on Thrill Seeker and went to our rigger Tuned to speak about the carbon mast and the place of the furlers and some other stuff.
Now I know that the furlers coming above the deck and I can work on the front to fix that.
Today I drilled the holes for the hammerhead and glued the front trampoline lashing tubes on.

I grinded the traveler extensions to fit nicely. The main job was to laminated the after underside with two layer biaxial and two layer UD in the direction from the beam mounts to the traveler.

I started the day with some yobs on the traveler to make it even and to make extensions for the traveler. I made a two triangles of foam on the front corners of the traveler. This is to make a loadpath from the beam mounts to the traveler. This is because it is more to the after side. I glued the triangles to the underside and against the travel. Next job was to laminated the tubes from the entrance and last job was to laminate the escape entrance.

Yesterday I laminated the two extra layers biaxial under the seat in the front so I could laminated the front side panels in place. After that I did some various jobs as leveling the traveler with some HD putty, filled the after lassing tubes with a nice round filled and put some putty in the place where the fasteners for the front escape hatch are coming.

I had a narrow escape with laminating today, I had to place three layers biaxial over the traveler to the underside, It was not sticking in the first place and it stretched in the wrong direction and I spoke some $&*!! words. I then decided  to do it with shorter pieces and that worked. Gladly I did get a good vacuum so I know it will be good at the end.

I the morning I prepared the traveler and glued it in place. In the afternoon I made the rim for the front escape hatch and glued that in place also. I further sanded the tubes from yesterday and some various prep work for the next tubes.

Yesterday I filled the traveler mounting points for the track with HD putty spaced every 10 cm.
In the afternoon we put Thrill Seeker in the water again. The main sail still has to be fit.
Today I sanded the HD putty on the traveler bar, after that I routed the edges. In the afternoon we glued some trampoline lasing tubes on the back and glued some tubes on the entrance. This is for putting a splash sail in the entrance like we have on Thrill Seeker. The next job we did was laminating the traveler bar with some biaxial and UD carbon and putting it under vacuum.
Finally I made a start to make a rim for round front hatch with the side foam 15 mm and the top and bottom 12 mm.

Traveler sanded and some varios jobs

I quit a little earlier from work so I could do some work on the boat. I sanded the traveler foam what I glued yesterday together. I fits nice, next thing is finding out where the holes are coming from the profile so I can drill the foam out there and fill them with HD putty. I put some UD carbon around the entrance, this was a advice from Ian. This is done because I place the traveller more to the after side and as a result the forces of the beams will also go more forward. The UD is on both sides of the bulkhead. In the bottom middle picture the original position is on the red line, this give also room enough to sit on the bunks without crossing the traveler. I cut the aft side corner of the bunks on 45 grade angle.

Tonight I glued the foam for the mainsheet traveler together, I partially started the cutting yesterday. The lassing tube is fitting nice above the port hole, the laminating of the tube has still to be done.

Yesterday we did the last side of Thrill Seeker with anti fouling and on the end of the day we did some putty on the edges of the port holes. Today we put some putty on the edges of the holes under the cockpit bunks. I also glued the rudder gudgeons to the bracket. I made these a while back ago but were still not assembled. The main job was gluing the trampoline lashing tube to the main hull.
The supervisor also asked for a better ladder to the cabin, I made this from some mold wood.
